Description of Work:
This is a professional position which involves primarily office work with occasional field views. Design work includes hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) studies, technical writing, waterway permitting, and other activities related to water resources. Projects are varied in complexity and type, including private studies, bridge/culvert replacements, and large highway corridors. The Civil/Water Resource Designer will be responsible for site investigations, data collection, and hydrologic studies using WMS, HEC-HMS, WinTR-55, stream gage analysis, and regression methods. Other key responsibilities include hydraulic modeling using HEC-RAS and HY-8; bridge/culvert modeling; bridge scour analysis and countermeasure design; floodplain delineation; and PADEP waterway permit applications.
Minimum Training and Experienced Required:
Qualified candidates must have a BS degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) and have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam. A master’s degree is a plus. No prior experience is necessary. Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word is required; familiarity with CADD programs and HEC-RAS is a plus. The applicant must be able to work well in a team and organize and prioritize tasks. Strong work ethic, verbal and written communication, and computer skills are also required for this position.
