Introduction to Hydraulics and HEC-RAS is an application-oriented training course for the US Army Corps of Engineers’ Hydraulic Engineering Center River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) program, which models steady, gradually-varied, one-dimensional, open channel flow using the Standard Step Method for water surface profile computations. The course will introduce the theory and practical application of open channel flow hydraulics for culvert and bridge design using a combination of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on workshops. Participants will learn how to implement a procedure to conduct a hydraulic analysis for culvert and bridge crossings in Pennsylvania that includes site assessment, cross section data collection, hydraulic method selection, interpretation of output, and comparison of existing and proposed conditions.
