NTM Engineering develops and instructs technical training courses on hydrology and hydraulics (H&H), stormwater, and erosion and sedimentation control. We are a National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES) Registered Continuing Education Provider (RCEP).
Since 2005, NTM’s staff has instructed over 250 individual offerings of over 25 courses across Pennsylvania, most of which we developed the content for our client. Topics include hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) design, erosion and sediment control (E&S) design, post-construction stormwater management (PCSM) design, stormwater control measures (SCM) inspection and maintenance, Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4), and municipal drone applications. Past course attendees have included participants from every PennDOT Engineering District; all of PA DEP’s regional offices; U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; PA Department of Conservation and Natural Resources; PA Fish and Boat Commission; and consultants from 50+ engineering firms.
Courses are offered regularly at our new NTM Training Center in Dillsburg, PA, and through PennDOT.

Training Courses Through PennDOT
NTM Engineering developed and instructs the PennDOT Bureau of Project Delivery’s highly rated Hydrologic and Hydraulic Professional Development Series and the Highway Drainage Professional Development Series. The H&H and Drainage Series were the first customized courses ever developed by PennDOT. The training courses, 10 out of 12 of which were developed by NTM, focus on PennDOT practices and specifications. The courses are geared toward engineers responsible for designing, analyzing, and permitting stream crossings and drainage systems. NTM developed the following technical training courses and currently manages them under a PennDOT contract.
H&H Series Courses
- PennDOT H&H and Permitting Procedures
- Introduction to Hydrologic Methods and Modeling with WMS
- Advanced WMS Applications
- Introduction to Hydraulics and HEC-RAS
- Advanced HEC-RAS and Scour Analysis
Drainage Series Courses
- Highway Drainage Design
- Stormwater Design and NPDES Permits
- Erosion and Sediment Pollution Control Design
Additional Courses
- Culvert Design Procedures
- Introduction to Highway Hydraulics
- Stormwater Control Measures – Visual Screening Inspections
- Stormwater Control Measures – Condition Assessment Inspections
